This poster is done by my son, as an assignment for the wildlife conservation week being celeberated the world over next week. It took him a long time to finish this!! Ofcourse, I did nag him, from his colouring techniques to well everything!

My son's sketch age 8+

HIten age 8
When I had made this sketch, I could see no flaw (vain), but now I can see that I have made it very very flawed.. no wonder he refuses to sit for another sketch!! :)

Women as Lovers by Elfriede Jelinek

It is not enough ... simply to surrender oneself brainlessly to love, when it knocks at the door, one must also calculate because of later life, which does sometimes follow.

ELFRIEDE JELINEK, Women As Lovers

Lines from the novel which has had me hooked for the last couple of days.. have to admit, I had approached the novel with some trepidition but was bowled over by the naked truth with which she has spun a story about the life of woman from birth to death, the two points connected with what lies inbetween; life.

The stories of the two heroines, is intertwined & told poignantly.

'Googling' for God!

I had been meaning to read a holy scripture for a long time now, the last I had read was Bhagvad Gita which was last year. I had tried to lay my hands on Krishna Puran, but somehow just could not get it. These last few days I had been asking a friend to arrange for a copy of Guru Granth Sahib, but as happens, she has been as busy as all of us.
So today while 'googling' (what else do u do when u want to look for something.. on a separate note.. i think 1 of these days I might even google for my misplaced keys..anyway getting back to the point), I thought of googling for Guru Granth Sahib and lo and behold I came across such a nice site for it.. it even allowed me to download the whole thing for me to read at my own pace.
Must say, the pages that I have read (not many as of now) were so moving, especially since it is in my mother tongue and makes me feel connected.

Thanx to Net I did nt have to even leave the house..

Grandparents' Day

Today at school we celeberated the Grandparents Day. The tiny tots from the school entertained their grandparents. The grandparents on their part enthralled the children by recounting stories from their life.

The day holds extra important in the modern world, with shrinking families and less of interaction with our elders. It was such a fun-filled day, where the elders were allowed a chance to be part of the daily school life of the grandchildren.

It was really nice to see the smiles on the faces of the old grandpa and grandma.

Touchwood!
